Sugar Cookies

There are a number of reasons sugar cookies are a staple on Christmas cookie platters everywhere: They are delicious, easy to make and you can customize them with colored sanding sugar to make them visually appealing and match any color scheme. Children and adults alike love them, making them a surefire hit for all.

These Chewy Sugar Cookies by A Latte Food are my go-to recipe when I need a cookie fix and fast! They have a mix of baking powder and baking soda that keep them fluffy and chewy, while the addition of a single egg maintains their moisture. When you make a batch of these, don’t expect them to last long. In fact, I’ve learned I have to save a few for myself in advance, or else I won’t get to enjoy any.

If you are not a fan of chewy cookies, and would prefer a crisp one, check out this Thin and Crispy Amish Sugar Cookie recipe by The Gold Lining Girl. Last year I had an order from our former neighbor for sugar cookies, with the request that they would taste like the ones she was raised on. I used this recipe and she loved them, and I think you will, too.

When you make sugar cookies, do you prefer to use granulated sugar or colored sanding sugar?

Hi, I'm Anna! A few things to know about me: I'm a big fan of reading, writing, baking and eating desserts. Sweet On Smith started out in 2017 as a way to bake for others, while raising money to help various hurricane relief efforts, and area nonprofits. While that aspect is currently on pause, I wanted a space to share my good reads and sweet treat recommendations with you.
